One year ago, the Nuclear Medicine Center at the Kommunarka Comprehensive Clinical Center in Moscow was officially put into operation, bringing advanced diagnostic and treatment methods to local cancer patients. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced this important news through his blog and provided detailed information on the center's operational achievements and technological advantages over the past year.

The Nuclear Medicine Center is equipped with three major departments: Radiation Oncology, Radionuclide Therapy, and Radioisotope Diagnosis. It has a professional medical team including 28 physicians, 7 medical physicists, and over 50 nurses. In the past year, approximately 3,000 patients received effective treatment here, while more than 5,000 people underwent high-precision radioisotope diagnosis. The Radiation Oncology Department stands out with its unique integrated system composed of three linear accelerators, capable of performing ultra-precise three-dimensional and four-dimensional external radiation therapy. Additionally, the department is equipped with advanced diagnostic units such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to develop personalized treatment plans.

The Radioactive Isotope Therapy Department is equipped with a separate specialized ward building featuring "hot beds" to provide comfortable inpatient accommodation for patients receiving radioactive treatment. The department uses specially prepared radioactive isotope preparations that can rapidly accumulate in tissues affected by pathological processes. Dedicated equipment is used to detect their radiation, thereby determining the severity of the disease and evaluating treatment efficacy. Meanwhile, the application of SPECT/CT and PET/CT technologies enables experts to more accurately assess treatment outcomes and detect potential metastasis.

During the treatment process, each patient is managed by a multidisciplinary expert team to ensure comprehensive and personalized care. Most patients receive radiation therapy as a day surgery procedure, with brief and efficient treatment sessions. The Nuclear Medicine Center not only features advanced technology but also prioritizes architectural design and environmental measures. The modern building, spanning 12,900 square meters, is constructed with energy-saving materials and technologies. Its light-colored facade, combined with blue panels and architectural lighting, creates an aesthetically pleasing and environmentally friendly design.
